The inaugural Run for the Waves! Women’s Football 5K fundraiser has been scheduled for November 6, 2021 at 9 am and will be held on the grounds of Calvin University. This is a unique 5K that you won’t find anywhere else. Football training techniques and drills will be weaved into a 5K running course for a uniquely challenging experience. Includes race t-shirt and post-race snacks. T-shirt not guaranteed if registered after October 24. Participants can register on Runsignup.
Proceeds benefit the Grand Rapids Tidal Waves. The Grand Rapids Tidal Waves are a women’s professional tackle football team established in 2018 which offers women in West Michigan the opportunity to play post-high school football. The Waves compete in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) consisting of over 65 teams nationally; the largest, most competitive league in the world. Thier season is April – June followed by playoffs. Many of the home games are held at Northview High School Stadium. The Waves rely on donations to cover operating costs (e.g., home fields, travel to away games, referees, practice fields). As a 501c(3), all donations are deductible.
