The Waves fought hard last Saturday but unfortunately when the dust settled the Waves were defeated 18-8 by the Capital City Savages. The Waves never gave up and fought until the very end scoring a touchdown with less than 30 seconds left in the game. The 1-1 Waves now look to get back on track with a home game on May 22 against the division two Detroit Dark Angels.

Rookie quarterback Brittany Mayer had a breakout game passing for 101 yards, one touchdown (first career TD), and one interception while completing 15 of her 25 pass attempts. Mayer spread the ball around hitting five different receivers. Her favorite target was fellow rookie, wide receiver Maria Boers who caught six passes for 57 yards including her first career touchdown catch. Balancing out the offense was running back Brynn Pline who rushed for 57 yards on 19 carries.

The defense was dominant once again racking up three interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a safety. Defensive ends Amanda Rocha and Jana Fagen anchored the defensive line with a combined eight solo tackles and five tackle assists accounting for 4.5 tackles for loss and one sack. Linebackers Peighton Jones, Dessiree Trevino, Brynn Pline, Kim Raschke, and Yvonne Flores took care of anyone who managed to make it beyond the defensive line.

The Waves next game is Saturday, May 22 at 5pm at Northview High School. The game is their Military Appreciation Game and all current and former members of the military will receive free admission.
